ABOUT

The Corning Area Community Concert Band is a group of area musicians of all ages, including: students, adults, professionals and amateurs.   We have music lined up for a spring concert with Horseheads HS in March, then – on to the spring/summer music. Nine concerts are scheduled through July 10, then …. we take August off.  But in September we start again – on 9/5/24, prepping for our big Scholarship Concert on 11/10/24 at the Corning Museum of Glass Auditorium.

REHEARSALS

Winter/Spring at Corning Middle School

Rehearsals schedule:

  • FEB: 1,8,15: 7-9 rehearsal at CPP Middle School
  • FEB 22: ‼️no rehearsal
  • FEB 29, MAR 7,14,: rehearsal at CPP Middle School
  • MAR 20, Wednesday: dress rehearsal 530-630 pm at HHDS HS; Concert 730pm
  • MAR 21,28; APR 4, 11: rehearsal at CPP Middle School
  • APR 18 & 25: ‼️no rehearsal
  • MAY: 2,9: rehearsal at CPP Middle School

Rehearsals are: 7 – 9:00 PM. Chairs and stands are provided. PARK behind the school; enter through the band room side entrance at the back of the building.

OUR CONDUCTOR

Tina S. Matejka received her B.S. in Music Education from West Chester University. While there, she played oboe in the Wind Ensemble and Orchestra, and was a field conductor for the Marching Band. She has a Master of Music in Wind Conducting from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst under Malcolm Rowell, Jr. She was graduate assistant to the Minuteman Marching Band and Concert Band, and performed on oboe in the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band.

Tina has also studied conducting with Craig Kirchoff, Carl St. Clair, and H. Robert Reynolds. Her teaching experiences include: John Jay Junior High School, Katonah NY; Union-Endicott High School, Endicott, NY; Dundee Junior-Senior High School, Dundee, NY; and Horseheads High School, Horseheads, NY. Tina recently retired from Horseheads where she conducted the award winning Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, musical pit orchestras, and directed the Marching Band. She is a member of the New York Band Directors Association, the New York State School Music Association and adjudicates solo, small ensemble, and large instrumental ensemble festivals. She is also a member of the New York Federation of Contest Judges and adjudicates Winterguard competitions as well as Music at Marching Band competitions. She lives north of Corning in a log home with husband Steve, two horses, and six cats.
